Let your hair dry or blow dry it?

Keune creative director Edita Kavaliauskienė refutes myths about natural hair drying.

What happens to our hair when we leave it wet?

The first thing you need to know is that hair is made up of several layers. The middle of the hair, the cortex, is surrounded by the cuticle, and when the hair is wet, the cortex "swells" and this puts pressure on the cuticle. If moisture is left in for too long, it damages the protein of the hair, and the cuticle gives way and tears, which can lead to frizzy hair and split ends.

How to dry hair so as not to damage it?

  • Only after you get out of the shower, dry your hair with a towel, gently squeezing it and let it dry naturally for a while.
  • Use it heat resistant spray together with a hair dryer (do not hold it too close) on cool mode. This way you will not heat the hair above the denaturation temperature.
  • When the hair is dry, the temperature can be raised and the hair modeled according to the desired end result.

Take proper care of your hair!
