Camphor comes from Southeast Asia where it grows widely in the wild. Nowadays, this side-growing tree has spread to South Africa and Australia. The chemical composition of essential oils varies greatly depending on the region where the tree grew. Therefore, several types of essential oils are extracted from one plant, which not only smell differently, but also have different properties.
Like ravintsara oil, this oil is obtained from camphor trees, but they are not at all similar to each other. The essential oil is extracted from camphor cinnamon trees grown in Southeast Asia, locally known as Ho trees, and has a floral aroma with a note of fresh leaves.
This oil contains more than 98% linalool, which is considered an important component because it has relaxing properties, camphor oil has a higher percentage of linalool than e.g. in oils such as lavender, basil and coriander. Therefore, aromatherapy specialists highly recommend this oil for managing stress, depression and anxiety.
