Norint palaikyti kaitrą, tereikia atidaryti mažąją sekciją ir pakrauti ją malkų, po ko uždaryti, bei reguliuoti dūmus su oro sklende. Kepsninę – rūkyklą lengva naudotis, joje galima kurenti ir anglis, ir medieną. Dangtis, termometras, kaminas ir oro sklendės padės tiksliai reguliuoti vidaus temperatūrą
