The xTool Ultimate Robot Kit V2.0 is a comprehensive educational kit that combines the study of robotics, electronics, mechanics, and programming with hands-on building. The kit includes over 160 building blocks and electronic modules, which can be used to build 10 different robot models and complete over 24 coding projects. The kit supports block-based programming with Scratch/mBlock and text-based coding with Arduino C/C++, and—when used with an additional Raspberry Pi—also supports Python. This allows it to guide users through successive stages of learning—from their first simple commands to more advanced projects.

10 Designs and Many Reconfiguration Options

The modular design allows users to reuse the same parts repeatedly and build robots for various tasks. Among the featured projects are, among others, a robot with an arm and a gripper, a tracked vehicle, a self-balancing robot, a structure with a camera mount, and an obstacle-detecting robot. Once you’ve completed a model, you can rebuild it, learning along the way how motors, gearboxes, mechanical components, and electronic control systems work.

Block-Based Programming, Arduino C/C++, and Python

You can start by learning block-based programming with Scratch or mBlock, which allows you to explore the principles of creating algorithms without first having to master the syntax of a text-based programming language. The next step can be programming in Arduino C/C++, which offers greater freedom when creating your own solutions and controlling the robot’s individual functions. The kit is also compatible with Raspberry Pi, and when used with an additional Raspberry Pi board, it allows you to develop projects using Python.

Assembling the kit yourself lets you see firsthand how mechanisms, electronics, motors, and software work together.
